Fincopa
Finland
The Finnish Consensus Platform for Alternatives (Fincopa) was founded in 2003 in Tampere, Finland. Today Fincopa has approximately 32 members and an active board covering academia, animal welfare, industry and regulators. Fincopa arranges free seminars covering different aspects of the 3Rs on a yearly basis to maintain an active discussion between different stakeholders in Finland. At May 2021, webinar on “3R perspectives in vaccine development and quality assurance” was held via teams platform. For specific activities, Fincopa organizes small working groups that plan, for example, training modules on ethics related to experimentation on animals.
Members of Fincopa are active in key committees. Several members of Fincopa provide expertise in the Finnish National Animal Experiment Board and are part of the Council on the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific and Educational Purposes. Additionally, members of Fincopa participate to the evaluation of the OECD test guidelines and guidance documents. We have representatives also in the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA), in EU-CAAT as well as in Ecopa.
