Winner of the ecopa award at ESTIV 2022

During ESTIV 2022 in Sitges, Spain, the board of ecopa was proud to assign the ecopa award to Aude Rapet with an oral presentation titled “A breathing lung-on-chip model: an advanced in vitro tool for drug testing and toxicology”.

Aude was very smart in introducing an interesting model that recreates the human lung environment, including the alveolar barrier function. This system was proved to predict pulmonary toxicity and suitable for safety assessment of immunotherapeutic drugs, an area where animal models are particularly difficult due to important species differences in the immune system.
